Outlook and guidance
2009 demand was expected to depend heavily on government housing and infrastructure stimulus; rural and semi-urban housing demand showed greater resilience than urban demand.
Capacity projects were scheduled to add 3 MTPA by phases from August 2009 to February 2010; Bargarh expansion was targeted for mid-2009 and the Chanda line for mid-2010.
Ready-mixed concrete expansion was paused for 2009, with priorities on consolidation, project work in infrastructure and cost reduction amid a contracting market outlook.
