Q4 19/20 earnings summary
14 Oct, 2026Executive summary
FY2020 earnings grew despite weaker power demand and lower generation; long-term PPAs, capacity charges and reduced operating and finance costs supported resilience. COVID-19 disruption intensified late in the year.
Strategic direction remains growth to 10 GW over the medium term, predominantly through renewables, supported by organic and inorganic opportunities and a strong balance sheet.
Financial highlights
Consolidated operating revenue fell 9.95% YoY to ₹8,272.71 crore; EBITDA before exceptional items rose 0.71% to ₹3,243.84 crore.
Consolidated PAT increased 58.23% to ₹1,099.92 crore; EPS rose to ₹6.70 from ₹4.24. Exceptional items included a net ₹61.46 crore gain from JPVL-related restructuring.
Standalone operating revenue declined 16% to ₹4,313.99 crore; PAT nearly doubled to ₹497.81 crore, including the effect of a ₹23.02 crore net exceptional loss.
Consolidated other comprehensive loss was ₹1,081.25 crore, largely reflecting a ₹1,068.62 crore fair-value decline in equity instruments; total comprehensive income was ₹11.74 crore.
Outlook and guidance
Medium-term target is 10 GW capacity, with most additions expected from renewables; land-bank development and organisational capability-building for wind and solar are underway.
Near-term power demand was expected to moderate amid COVID-19; medium-term demand outlook remained positive, with CEA projecting 1,566 TWh requirement by FY2021-22.
Growth plans include organic and inorganic expansion; Kutehr 240 MW hydro project works were awarded, while Ind-Barath’s 700 MW acquisition awaited tribunal approval.
