Trading update summary
9 Oct, 2026Trading outlook
Trading since the March 2026 interim period was below Board expectations, reflecting changes in Vicon markets, constrained research funding and IVMS project delays.
FY26 is a 15-month period to 31 December 2026; revenue is expected at £47.0m–£51.0m and adjusted EBIT at a loss of £0.5m–£3.9m, below market expectations of £56.2m revenue and £3.0m profit.
FY27 adjusted EBIT is expected at or above the £3.5m market expectation, while revenue is expected below the £52.5m market expectation.
The FY26 range reflects uncertainty over the timing and conversion of larger near-term customer opportunities.
Vicon strategy and trading
Entertainment demand was affected by lower film, TV and games investment; constrained research funding continued to delay health and life sciences purchases, while robotics demand remained encouraging.
Orders from major robotics companies and opportunities in humanoid robotics and drone tracking support expansion from research programmes into wider deployment.
The move:ai acquisition is intended to accelerate markerless technology and broaden customer access; hybrid systems and exclusive rights to a substantial movement dataset add to Vicon's technology and data base.
Nexus Markerless launched for health and life sciences via recurring subscriptions; a new Vero camera supports upgrades and new installations, while Captive Devices adds facial capture.
IVMS progress
The FY26 revenue range assumes no contribution from the delayed next phase of a major contact lens inspection programme, now expected in Q1 2027.
IVMS removed lower-margin distribution products, reducing near-term revenue while refocusing sales on applications with greater technical value and stronger margins.
Three repeatable inspection offerings were developed across optical inspection, medical equipment and semiconductor applications; pilot systems have sold in the latter two areas.
