CONSOL Energy Inc. produces and exports bituminous coal, natural gas, oil, coal bed methane gas, and electricity in the United States and internationally. The company operates through three segments: Exploration & Production (E&P), Pennsylvania Mining Operations, and Electric Generation. The E&P segment produces coal seam gas and crude oil. The Pennsylvania Mining Operations segment produces metallurgical coal used to produce coke for steel manufacturing. This segment owns five continuous mining operations in southwestern Pennsylvania; four underground longwall mining systems in the northern Appalachian Basin in southwestern Pennsylvania; one underground longwall mine in the central Appalachian Basin in West Virginia.
