Executive summary
Profit attributable to shareholders increased 26% year-over-year to HK$1.41 billion, supported by strong net interest and non-interest income growth and a positive contribution from the associate Bank of Chongqing.
Net interest income rose 8% year-over-year to HK$2.81 billion, driven by disciplined funding cost management and a 23 bps expansion in net interest margin to 2.32%.
Non-interest income surged 63% year-over-year, with strong growth in net fee, commission, and trading income.
Operating expenses rose 10% due to higher IT and staff costs, but the cost-to-income ratio improved to 43.3% from 47.8%.
Credit impairment charges increased 34% year-over-year, mainly from prudent provisioning for Hong Kong commercial real estate and corporate loans.
Financial highlights
Total operating income grew 21.2% year-over-year to HK$4,112.4 million.
Operating profit before impairment rose 31.7% to HK$2,330.7 million.
Profit for the period: HK$1,810.8 million, up 23.2% year-over-year.
Basic EPS: HK$4.41 (2024: HK$3.79).
Interim dividend declared at HK$1.16 per share, up from HK$0.92 per share last year, payable on 18 September 2025.

Elevated credit costs are expected to persist through 2025 due to ongoing economic and geopolitical uncertainties.
The business outlook for the remainder of 2025 is not expected to change materially.
