The Kontigo treatment program is based on functional addiction theory, which focuses on improving clients' day-to-day functioning. Treatment is time limited and client self-disclosure is emphasized to develop insight into one's own addictive behavior. Each client's addiction picture is assessed and tailored treatment developed in cooperation with the client. The structure of each treatment intervention counteracts continuance of addiction. Client-centered therapy using a combination of supervision and coaching, empowerment and guidance is central to the Kontigo model. Kontigo Care AB was founded in 2013 and is based in Uppsala, Sweden.
