Rithm Capital Corp, formerly New Residential Investment Corp., is a real estate investment trust (REIT) that operates in the United States. It engages in originating, acquiring, servicing and managing residential mortgage loans. Its Originations segment secures approval of residential mortgage loan applications with various types of assets as collateral, and transfers these loan applications to its Servicing segment for underwriting approval and closing. This segment also originates consumer loans, including home equity debt and lines of credit (HELOCs), home equity loans, automobile titles, and other consumer financing products, not secured by real property. It further originates MSR-related investments in non-agency mortgage-backed security (NAMBS) collateralized by residential mortgage loans that have been sold or transferred to third parties.
