Nidec Corporation designs, develops, produces, and sells motors, electronics and optical components, and other related products in Japan and internationally. It operates through three segments: Automotive Motors; Home Appliance and Industrial Equipment; and Commercial Equipment. The Automotive Motors segment offers motors that are used in hybrid vehicles (HV) and electric vehicles (EV), including air conditioning units that cool the HV/EV battery and inverters that control the drive of motors; starters/alternators for automobiles; power steering pumps for automobiles; water pumps, transmission oil pumps of automobile engines; engine cooling fans for internal combustion engines; small motors used to operate power windows, sun roofs/hoods/trunks, power seats/seat reclining systems, slide doors attached to minivans, meter clusters and audio systems in automobiles; small precision motors for automobile windshield wipers or power sliding doors attached to minivans; electrical units that control various devices installed in automobiles.
