Executive summary
Payments business achieved record GMV of ₹384 billion, up 53% YoY and 16% QoQ, with gross margin at an all-time high and payments contributing 76% of total income.
Registered user base reached 180.2 million (+12% YoY), merchant base 4.64 million (+9% YoY), and 3.8 million new users added in the quarter.
Financial services saw 31% QoQ growth in ZIP EMI disbursals to ₹6,931 million, with gross margin improving to 13.3%.
EBITDA loss narrowed to ₹312 million, improving 32% QoQ, driven by higher contribution margin and cost optimization.
Operational discipline maintained with fixed costs steady and direct costs reduced across payments and lending.
Financial highlights
Total income for Q1FY26 was ₹2,816 million, up 1.1% QoQ; revenue from operations at ₹2,714 million.
Contribution margin improved to 27.5% from 22.8% QoQ, and absolute CM grew 21.7% QoQ.
Payments gross margin reached 27.9% (up from 16.1% YoY), and financial services gross margin improved to 13.3%.
Net loss for the quarter was ₹419 million, with EPS at (5.39); PAT loss reduced from ₹560 million in the previous quarter.
EBITDA margin improved to (11.1%) from (16.4%) QoQ.
Outlook and guidance
EBITDA breakeven is imminent, with profitability expected this financial year and continued margin expansion.
Focus remains on cost optimization, operating leverage, and scaling new products like Pocket UPI and First Card.
Lending gross margin projected to return to 40% by the second half as accounting changes normalize.
Anticipated regulatory changes (e.g., interchange, pocket UPI) could provide additional revenue upside.
