Platform architecture and technology

• Proteus features a nanowell array consumable with an estimated 80 million wells at launch, enabling superior sequencing performance and workflow automation compared to previous systems.

• The benchtop instrument integrates an imaging system and supports automated workflows for higher throughput.

• Proteus chips have 4 chambers with 20 million wells each, compared to Platinum Pro's 2 chambers with 1 million wells each.

Performance and benchmarking

• Proteus delivers 30x more alignments per chamber and 60x more per instrument run than Platinum, with a 4.8x lower false discovery rate (FDR).

• All six control peptides were identified in every Proteus run, while Platinum identified fewer in most runs.

• Proteus detected 1.6–2.0x more peptides than Platinum in protein mixture studies, with deeper amino acid coverage and lower FDR.

• In a 24-plex protein mixture, Proteus achieved 4.3x greater sequence coverage and detected all 24 proteins, compared to 20.3 for Platinum.

• Proteus demonstrated superior per-residue detection across all amino acids, with some residues detected only by Proteus.

Applications and future development

• The expanded nanowell capacity enables more samples per run, deep analysis of complex mixtures, and cost-effective multiplexing.
