VARTA AG engages in the research, development, production, and sale of microbatteries and accumulators. It operates through the following segments: Microbatteries; Storage Solutions; and Household Batteries. The Microbatteries segment includes products consisting of thin film batteries, such as thin film lithium-ion batteries and solid state lithium batteries. The Storage Solutions segment covers lithium iron phosphate storage systems. The Household Batteries segment comprises zinc carbon batteries with alkaline chemistry as well as alkaline manganese dioxide batteries for consumer use in household appliances.
