Agentic AI and the AI smartphone

• The mobile experience is shifting from app-led interaction to intent-led agents that can perceive context, reason, plan, remember and act; apps and agents will coexist.

• The phone remains central as a personal device providing presence, context and connection, while PCs, XR, audio devices, wearables and cars extend the user's AI ecosystem.

• Agent experiences should be secure, private, user-controlled and lower-friction than completing tasks manually; hybrid on-device and cloud AI must coordinate across models, apps and services.

• A simple confirmation could trigger multi-app actions such as coordinating schedules and purchasing event tickets, with complexity handled behind the scenes.

• Consumer interest is building: 70% are interested in a personalized agent and 66% in multiple devices built around their agent.

Partnerships and agentic commerce

• Google described Gemini Intelligence as an AI layer across platforms, moving experiences from answering questions toward completing tasks; Gemini reached 1B monthly users, while token use rose 7x YoY.

• Google said personal AI should use current context, history and preferences with user consent, and carry that context across phones, PCs, cars and other devices.

• Mastercard and Snapdragon are working on trust for agentic commerce; payment agents need dependable authentication, protected credentials and clear user control.

• Mastercard emphasized balancing relevant personalization with privacy, including limits on data use and unwanted marketing.

• Snapdragon Insiders numbered 23M; Snapdragon creators reached a combined audience of 405M in the past year.

Snapdragon platform and flagship announcements

• Two flagship platforms were introduced: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 for premium performance and efficiency, and Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 as the top platform for agentic-era devices.

• Xiaomi said Xiaomi 18 Pro and Pro Max would debut the two 2 nm platforms; Xiaomi 18 Pro gaming achieved 38.1% lower single-frame power consumption in a heavy-load game.

• Xiaomi said the Xiaomi 18 Pro series would launch in Beijing on Sept. 23 and reach global markets later in 2026.

• Motorola previewed Signature 27, powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, with seven years of OS upgrades and worldwide availability in 2026.

• HONOR described its robot phone and said the upcoming Magic9 series would handle tasks exceeding 100 steps; its presentation cited a Sept. 20 product event.
