20 Oct, 2026Portfolio and care platforms
Lifecare EHR combines clinical and administrative functions; modular applications, open interfaces and openEHR data support interoperability and incremental deployment.
Specialist products cover surgery planning, resource optimization, staff scheduling and laboratory operations; Lifecare represents >90% of Caretech revenue, comprising EHR 43%, social care 34% and specialized products 23%.
Karolinska uses Lifecare Open Platform alongside its EHR to integrate systems and standardize clinical data; 3 use cases are live and 10 in build, with the platform set to continue alongside its next EHR.
Buyers are shifting toward open, modular platforms and incremental delivery; EHDS milestones include supervisory-authority designation in Mar 2027 and cross-border patient summaries and ePrescriptions in Mar 2029.
VGR stopped a monolithic implementation and plans modular replacement; Catalonia selected open standards and modular applications for its next-generation architecture.
Nordic position and growth
Lifecare EHR serves 16/21 Finnish wellbeing services counties; social-care share is 60% in Sweden and Norway, and private-healthcare share is 80% in Finland.
~89% of 2028 revenue is expected from the modern Lifecare Nordic portfolio; new products in the installed base are expected to deliver ~50% of gross growth, with net compounding of ~5% annually after churn and repricing.
Priorities include deeper installed-base sales, new products into existing customers and selected new-logo wins; Denmark is a new Nordic growth area.
Finnish county implementations are ongoing, with production expected toward year-end 2026 and growth contribution in 2027–2028; Swedish social care delivered 9%–10% organic growth.
European expansion
Focus markets are Spain, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria and Switzerland; the European addressable market is ~4x the Nordic market, while three targeted segments are 3.7x the Nordic market and modeled to grow 16.9% annually across nine markets.
Partner-led customer work includes Catalonia with NTT DATA, Basel University Hospital with OWT, Mainz University Hospital with x-tention and KAGes; deliveries are underway in four countries outside the Nordics.
European revenue-share ambition is 0% to 7% by 2028; revenue remains lower single-digit as a share of total revenue in 2026 and is tracking at the expected level.
Routes to market include innovating around incumbent EHRs, modernizing the EHR core, or using high-value products and cross-selling; platform growth can add patient IDs, modules, co-development and reusable use cases.
Large transformation deals have long decision and procurement timelines; partner networks are intended to expand delivery capacity as demand scales.
