General Insurance PAT at ₹107 crore, down 20% YoY; solvency ratio at 2.17x.
Claims ratio increased to 81%, up from historical averages, mainly due to higher motor third-party reserving and large fire claims.
Combined ratio for the quarter was 114.8% (111.5% excluding one-by-n), reflecting the impact of reserving and large claims.
Outlook and guidance
Vehicle Finance expects HCV rebound in H2 FY26, LCV growth driven by freight demand, and used vehicle market to remain strong.
General Insurance sector remains underpenetrated, with long-term growth potential from product innovation and rural expansion.
Loss ratios are expected to moderate in subsequent quarters but may not return to previous lows due to industry-wide inflation and lack of premium increases.
GWP growth faces headwinds from a significant drop in crop insurance premiums (INR 500 crore annualized), but efforts are underway to offset this via other avenues.
