20 May, 2026Platform overview and technology
IONSolv™ is a proprietary, scalable platform that selectively recovers and upgrades metals from complex materials using Deep Eutectic Solvent (DES) chemistry developed with the University of Adelaide.
The process involves selective leaching, separation, and solvent recycling, enabling closed-loop, low-temperature, and high-purity metal recovery.
The platform is modular and can be applied across e-waste/rare earths, solar PV, and battery materials.
Market opportunity and value proposition
Significant value is lost annually in Western e-waste, batteries, and solar PV streams, with most routed through China-dominated refining.
IONSolv™ aims to intercept these streams, redirecting value to Western end-use markets, with a 2026 addressable opportunity estimated at $12–18bn and $22–28bn by 2030.
The platform addresses a common bottleneck: the lack of a selective upgrading step for complex feedstocks.
Commercialisation pathways and validation
Rare earths from e-waste is the lead commercialisation pathway, with independently verified 93–95% NdPr recovery on US commercial feedstock.
Solar PV recycling has achieved ~95% silver recovery in bench-scale tests, validating the economic case.
Battery materials recycling shows strong lab validation, with up to 100% recovery for key metals and partnerships with EU and Australian entities.
