Group Target Picture 2030
The 2030 framework targets an 8–10% operating margin and >60% cash conversion; a comprehensive €31bn cost program and disciplined investment and portfolio management underpin the ambition.
Twelve initiatives span technology, performance and steering, including product portfolio, technology roadmap, production network, operational excellence, regions, investment portfolio and governance.
The target technology footprint converges to 14 paths by 2030+, from 32 current paths across ADAS, infotainment, ICE and BEV platforms.
Planned measures include up to 50% fewer models, 75% lower complexity, €20bn in R&D, procurement, production, sales and quality savings, and €11bn in overhead savings versus baseline.
Products and operating model
Product launches totaled 30 new models in each of 2024 and 2025, with >20 planned for 2026; China plans 20 new VW and Audi models by year-end 2026, with 15 already launched.
Portfolio streamlining targets 45% fewer models and 60% higher average volume per model; reduced variants and niche models are intended to lower development, production and sales costs.
Vehicle simplification includes 95% unified mounting points and reuse of 50,000 body parts across ID.4 and Tiguan; targets include 94% fewer vehicle variants and 96% fewer software variants.
Agreed EU plant capacity reductions total 735k units across four sites by 2027; >500k vehicles of remaining excess capacity are to be addressed. Germany factory costs fell 20% on average in 2025, with new allocation expected to improve average factory cost per vehicle by >40%.
