7 Oct, 2026Phase 1 economics
DFS outlines a 14-year mine life, 20Mt JORC Reserve, 1.5Mtpa throughput and 183ktpa average SC5.5 production at a 70% Li₂O recovery target.
Initial CAPEX is US$418M, including contingency and pre-strip; US$95M State Grant contribution leaves US$323M required net of grant.
Post-tax NPV8 is US$913M, IRR 43.2% and payback 1.9 years; total EBITDA is US$3.2Bn and free cash flow US$1.9Bn.
SC6-equivalent C1 cost is US$516/t and AISC US$705/t, both in the 2nd quartile of the 2030 global cost curve.
Project scale and operations
The 20Mt Reserve sits within a 39.2Mt JORC Resource, including 26.8Mt Measured and Indicated; more than 50,000m of drilling is complete.
Phase 1 includes open-pit mining, conventional DMS and flotation, dry-stack tailings, six water reservoirs for autonomous collection and recycling, and an 80% renewable-power supply.
Project infrastructure includes an 11km north access road and a 17km shared Boticas bypass road; by-products are intended for regional ceramics and other industries.
Phase 1 output is described as supporting 7M+ EV batteries; the project also targets more than 1,000 indirect and induced jobs and includes a community contribution through the Savannah Foundation.
Funding and delivery schedule
Project finance work has two routes under review: a KfW/commercial-bank syndicate with ECA support or commercial-bank funding; financial close is targeted by Q1 2027.
Offtake strategy targets 70–75% of production under long-term contracts, with take-or-pay structures expected; around 45ktpa is targeted for spot sales.
A €110M State Grant has been awarded; lender technical, environmental and social, market, and legal due diligence is underway.
Construction is targeted to begin after FID in 2027, with first concentrate targeted for year-end 2028 and subsequent ramp-up to nameplate production.
